I'm so glad Stampin' Up! decided to bring back this hugely popular Designer Series Paper, Summer Picnic. This lively set of 12 different designs was first available this past spring in the Occasions Mini Catalog and what a surprise to see that it is back in the new Fall/Winter
Idea Book and Catalog. The coordinating colors for Summer Picnic DSP are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Bashful Blue. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger image of all 12 patterns.
This first card uses one of the new stamp sets, Upsy Daisy (View this photo ), which also happens to be on sale right now for 15% off! Click here for more information on the "Never Before Seen" sale. The card base is Pumpkin Pie with a layer of Real Red and the Green Stripe pattern from the Summer Picnic DSP. A length of ribbon covers the junction of the DSP. The large floral image was stamped with Real Red Craft Ink on Whisper White Cardstock and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. The sky and ground were sponged on with Bashful Blue and Old Olive Inks. The Sentiment was stamped with Black Stazon. The tied bow completes the card.
Isn't this next card fun? You can just imagine the butterflies flittering around you in the air! Using the new set, Flight of the Butterfly (View this photo ), I stamped three Bashful Blue Butterflies on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, using the 3, 2-layer stamps that come in the set, I overstamped one with Real Red polka dots, one with Pumpkin Pie flowers and one with an Old Olive dot outline. I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig positioner to make sure the images were lined up. The card base is Bashful Blue with a layer of Real Red and then two of the prints from the Summer Picnic DSP. Again, I attached a piece of 1/4" Bashful Blue DSP across the junction of the two pattern papers (to hide the seam and just because I LOVE ribbon!). I stamped the sentiment with Black Stazon ink and attached the three butterflies with dimensionals after folding their wings up just a bit to pop them off the page. Finally, I tied on short lengths of Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon to add a little more color. Fun, fun, fun!
I have one last card for you today (I always seem to make three, don't ask my why but I am trying to give you a good look at the versatility of the designs that come in each Designer Series Paper collection). This card uses the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set (View this photo ) -- another that found it's way into the Fall/Winter catalog from the Occasions Mini last spring. I absolutely LOVE this stamp set and was overjoyed to see it back. The large flower image is stamped with Black Stazon on Whisper White cardstock and colored in using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Bashful Blue Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Blender Pens. I sponged some Old Olive ink on the edges of the white and mounted it on a square of Old Olive cardtstock. The Card base is Real Red and the 2nd layer is a print from the Summer Picnic DSP. I then took a 1 1/2" wide strip of the Green Stripe paper and mounted it on a layer of Real Red Cardstock and attached it to the base. I attached the matted flower image with dimensionals. Finally, I stamped the sentiment with Black Stazon, punched it out with the large Oval Punch, sponged the edges with Old Olive ink and mounted it on a 1 1/4" punched circle of Old Olive.
There you go! Three more cards to inspire you and to spotlight some of the beautiful Stamp Sets, Papers and Products that you can purchase from Stampin' Up!
