Hello everyone and welcome to the first Stamping 411 sketch of 2010! Today's sketch leaves lot of room for interpretation with a wide-open front panel. And interpret I did with lots of bold, bright colors and beautiful, whimsical butterflies! I turned the sketch on it's side and used Real Read, Only Orange and Whisper White as my primary colors. Other colors used for the butterflies include YoYo Yellow, Lovely Lilac, Green Galore and Brilliant Blue. The butterflies are cut and embossed with the new Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embosslet and the Big Shot (available January 5th in the Occasions Mini Catalog). The ribbon is 5/8" Real Red Satin and the sentiment is from Heard from the Heart. The bottom of the Whisper White layer is punched with the new Scallop Trim Border Punch (which you can earn FREE as a Sale-a-Bration gift with a $50 purchase). Here's all the details:
- Layer One -- Real Red cardstock cut at 5.5 x 8.5" -- scored and folded in half to form your card base.
- Layer Two -- Only Orange cut at 4 x 5.25"
Layer Three -- Whisper White cut at 4 x 5" and punched on the bottom with a Border Punch. Stamp the sentiment with Black Stazon Ink. Add the ribbon across, fastening to the back of layers 2 & 3 and tie on a fuax bow. Cut butterflies from various colors of cardstock. Adhere the larger ones with Stampin' Dimensionals and the smaller ones with SNAIL or two-way glue. (click on the small photo
at the right to see the dimension on the butterflies). The goal here was to make the butterflies look like they were flying off the page!
- Layer Four is the inside of the card which is adorned with more colorful butterflies!
This was a pretty simple, fast and easy card to make but what a great shot of color and texture to brighten up a very cold, winter day! Thanks for stopping by and remember to check out the Stamping 411 site to see what the other Operators have been up to. You are absolutely right that a pop of color could brighten today, love how the outside matches the inside of the card, I often forget about that inside....
