I've been seeing so many incredible cards made with the Stamp Set "Work of Art". It's amazing what creative stampers are doing with this set -- they are actually using the stamps to "paint" different images -- flowers, fairies, dancers, scenery, rainbows -- all kinds of beautiful abstract images using the rubber stamps as a kind of "paintbrush". I'm going to be sharing some of these with you in the coming weeks starting today with this beautiful card.
As you can see, I've used the different rubber stamps to "paint" the ground/grass and clouds as a backdrop for the flowers and leaves from the stamp set "Summer Silhouettes". Colors used are Soft Sky, Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss.
I began with a 4 x 5.25" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Ink up the larger stamp with Old Olive ink and stamp in the lower left-hand corner. Position the stamp just above the first stamped image and stamp off again (the 2nd stamping will leave a lighter green color -- this technique is called "stamping off" and is a great way to get several different shades of the same color).
Next, use the smaller stamp image to represent the clouds. Ink up the stamp with Soft Sky ink and stamp one image, then stamp off in the lighter color. Do this three or four times randomly around the carddstock to represent clouds.
Next, I stamped the sentiment. Here's a great HINT -- when combining two different stamps to create a sentiment, put them together on one stamp block, alignning them (and test stamping) until you get the placement the way you want.
Then you can stamp the sentiment all at once instead of stamping different words and trying to get them to line up on the final image. It's a great time-saver!
Finally, I stamped the leaves and floral images over the "painted" backdrop, added a butterfly (created with the Pipillon Potpourri Stamp Set, embellished with a single Basic Rhinestone and attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. Finally, I rounded off the bottom corners of the card with the Project Life Corner Punch and added a few more stamped images on the inside layer of Whisper White Cardstock.
So there you have it -- "Painting" with the Work of Art Stamp Set!!!
