Another Day of Gratitude and a Quick Tutorial

Hello everyone! I'm so sorry that I haven't posted all week. Life sometimes just gets so busy that I can't keep up with it.

But I'm back today with another card using the fabulous set from the new Holiday Mini Catalog, Day of Gratitude and the new Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is wonderful to work with. It's cardstock weight and textured and has the most delicious fall colors -- Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard and Early Espresso.

This card also uses the Scallop Trim Border Punch, the new Extra Large Decorative Label Punch and 5/8" Old Olive Satin Ribbon.

I've had several ask me how I got the larger contrasting mat around the new Decorative Label Punch so I thought I would give you a little tutorial. This was not my idea -- I've seen several others do a similar technique. But this is how I've been doing mine.  Click on the small photos to view them larger ...

 

Step One: Punch two side pieces using the Decorative Label Punch. You can punch these just from the edge of a piece of cardstock or you can use those narrow strips that always seem to end up in your scrap basket. You only need to punch out about 1/2" of the side of the punch shape. Again, Punch two of the side pieces.

 

Step Two:  Punch two pieces from the top or bottom of the punch (they are identical). Again, you only need to punch a piece that is about 1/2" deep.

Step Three: Lay all 4 punches pieces out to form the outline for your Decorative Label punch.

Step Four:Using SNAIL adhesive on the back of your label (the full label punch that you have stamped on), line up the four outline pieces so there is an even border on all four sides of the punch. Adhere the label to your project using SNAIL or Stampin' Dimensionals.

That's all there is to it! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

A Day of Gratitude and a New Holiday Mini Catalog

WOW -- September 1st! I honestly cannot tell you where this year has gone -- it is just slipping away too quickly! But, the exciting thing about September 1st is the launch of the all new and simply FABULOUS Holiday Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! Now to wet-your-whistle and get you really excited about this new mini -- here's a little gem I created recently! Are you loving that BIG stamped image? It is from the Day of Gratitude Stamp Set.

The colors are Cajun Craze, Marina Mist, Old Olive and Whisper White. Embellishments include 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Antique Brads, The Big Shot and the Square Lattice Die and the new (from the Mini) Extra Large Decorative Label Punch.

To create the large stamped image, I stamped it twice on Whisper White Cardstock -- one stamped with Marina Mist ink and then another time by coloring on the rubber with Stampin' Write Markers. I cut out both images and layered the multi-colored one on top of the solid color one. it is mounted on the card using Stampin' Dimensionals!

And of course, we don't want to ignore the inside of the card. The inside Whisper White mat is stamped in the corner with another of the stamps from the set, again coloring directly on the rubber with markers.
