Hello everyone! I recently had an Embossing Class with some of my ladies and we all enjoyed it immensely. I thought I would share our projects with you! I taught them four different embossing techniques -- Basic Heat Embossing, Emboss-Resist, Emerging Color Embossing and Faux Alligator-Skin Embossing! I hope you enjoy these projects as much as we did making them!
Here's my first card using Basic Heat Embossing, the stamp set Great Friend, from the Occasions Mini Catalog, Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper (also from the mini) and Irridescent Ice Embossing Powder. Colors are So Saffron (card base), Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Baja Breeze and Whisper White. The Scallop Circle is cut with the Big Shot and the Scallop Circle #2 Die. I used the Circle Scissor Plus for the solid circle. The images are stamped with Kiwi Kiss Ink. The butterflies were stamped with Versamark (clear Embossing Ink) onto colored cardstock and then heat embossed with the Irridescent Ice EP and a heat tool. A little 3/8" Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon finishes it off!
The next Technique we tried was Emboss-Resist. The Upsy Daisy Stamp Set is perfect for this fun technique! The floral image was stamped with Versamark Ink on Whisper White cardstock and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool. We sponged on three different colors -- Apricot Appeal, Pixie Pink and Real Red. The embossed flowers "pop" out as you apply the colored contrasting ink. This was mounted on layers of Apricot Appeal and Basic Black. I used a bit of
the Apricot Appeal DSP from the Patterns Pack (Level One Hostess Gift) and some 1/4" Black Grosgrain ribbon. The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White, punched out with the Large Oval Punch and mounted on a new Scallop Oval Punchie. Finally, for a pop of color and a bright surprise when you open the card, I sponged the three ink colors inside as well, framing a blank space for writing!
Emerging Color Embossing takes embossing to the next level. First you stamp a design on Whisper White cardstock, then you stamp a large, solid image over the top of that with Versamark and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. When you sponge or brayer on a darker contrast color, the embossed images comes through and the stamped images beneath "emerge" through it all! It's really a fun technique and a definite "WOW" when you teach it to someone! For this card I used
Baroque Motifs and Petal Pizzaz. The cardstock colors are Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. I also used one of the cool new Corduory Buttons and Brads in Baja Breeze. The small photo (click to make it bigger) show the stamping on the inside of the card.
Finally, I taught my ladies how to do the Faux-Alligator Skin Technique that was developed by Jackie Topa. I first showed you these little Wristlets last week but thought they deserved a place in my class line-up! I used Chocolate Chip cardstock to cut the Top Note and Box #2 dies. You can see more details on THIS previous post.
