Well, many of you have wondered why I've been so quiet for the past couple of days -- totally unlike me, right? I haven't forgotten you but I have been busy trying to clean things up from the 8" of flood water that ended up in my basement on Sunday when Hurricane Ike made it's way through the Midwest. It was amazing and my heart goes out to all who suffered from Ike at his strongest when he began his American rampage. Well, as some of you know, our family room and my stamping studio are in the basement so I haven't been doing much stamping (and I miss it so much). Hopefully in the next day or two things will be dried out and back together enough to begin some new projects (if only you could see what's in my head!). Today's card is one that I made (before the flood) for this week's "Punch Your Way to a 1-2-3 Card" Challenge. I used the Parisian Summer DSP for this card which uses one stamp set (Hugs and Wishes), 2 Embellishments (1 1/4" and 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon) and 3 colors (Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla). The sentiment is punched out with the new Wide Oval Punch Punch and mounted on two Scallop Square punches which are put together to make a rectangle (did you know you can make just about any size scallop square or rectangle by punching multiple shapes out and attaching them together? How cool is that?). I will be posting the tutorial for the ribbon flower but for those of you that just can't wait, I took about 15" of the 1 1/4" Pink Pirouette Grosgrain ribbon and ran a basting stitch down one edge with a needle and thread. Gently pull the thread and gather the ribbon. Tie the ends of the basting thread together and pull to make a circle (for this one, leave about 1/4" opening in the center). The 1/4" Bravo Burgundy ribbons were folded to make a loop and SNAILed to the larger ribbon and then a little "knot" tied in another length of 1/4" ribbon and inserted into the circle and tied at the back to finish off the flower. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know -- it will be easier to understand when you have the pictures. It's coming, I promise -- check back soon!
Back by request, I am once again offering the Designer Series Paper and Ribbon Sampler Kits. This is a great way to get a little bit of everything without having to buy complete packages of paper or spools of ribbon. Deadline for ordering the Sampler Kits is Sunday, September 21st at 11:59 p.m. (central time). I will place the order with Stampin' Up! on 9-22 and you will receive your kits in the mail about 10 days after that. Click on the links above for more information.
Thank goodness for a sunny forecast for this week. Stay safe and dry, everyone, and happy stamping! Blessings, Gretchen
