I've been playing some more with the new Christmas Classics set and I must say, I love the look of these images when they are embossed with metallic embossing powders. There's something about the shading in these images that makes them perfect for this technique. For today's card, I began with a base of Hunter Green and added a layer of Riding Hood Red cardstock. I used the So Swirly Jumbo wheel and Versamark ink to add the delightful watermark image to the background. The Hunter Green Accent piece is the Big Shot Top Note Bigz Die (cut in half). The Christmas ornament is stamped with Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I used the Versamark Marker just around the edge of the Die cut and then sprinkled on Gold Embossing powder. Tip for the day -- when embossing with metallic embossing powders on dark cardstock, it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you use the Embossing Buddy before applying your ink. Just rub it on the entire surface of your cardstock and it will keep the powder from sticking in areas you don't want it to. Be careful as well about fingerprints on your cardstock. It doesn't take much at all for the embossing powder to stick and unless you want to send your embossed fingerprints as your unique signature, use caution! Once the images and border have been stamped, embossed and heat set, punch two tiny holes with your paper piercer or 1/16" hole punch and tie on a length of Gold Metallic Cord (from the Holiday Mini Catalog -- available October 1st) and tie in a bow. I applied the Hunter Green embossed layer to the Riding Hood Red layer using SNAIL adhesive and then tied on a length of Riding Hood Red 3/8" Taffeta ribbon (I am in love with this new ribbon that has the white edges -- it's so elegant and easy to work with). The greeting, from Many Merry Messages, was again stamped with Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
