Hello everyone! Once or twice a week, from now until Christmas, I'm going to be featuring some unusual color combinations for Christmas to help you, and me, bread out of the box a little. Today's Crazy Christmas Colors are Lovely Lilac, Tempting Turquoise and Certainly Celery. Beautiful colors for spring ... but for Christmas? Well, you decide and make sure and leave me a comment to let me know what you think!
This first card uses the Gifts of Christmas Stamp Set (one of my favorites). I sprayed the Certainly Celery layer with Shimmer Mist (2 oz. of Rubbing Alcohol in a little misting bottle and drop in about 6 generous drops of Champaign Mist Shimmer Paint, shake well before and during use for some amazing sparkle (and no glitter
residue) on your projects). After drying, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Petals-a-plenty Impressions Folder. I stamped the main image on a Whisper White Top Note (cut in half) and then created a dropped-shadow effect using another half top-note die cut. The ribbon is 5/8" Certainly Celery and 1/4" Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain. A little stamping on the inside finishes it off!
This next card features the Patterned Pines Hostess set. I again used the Shimmer Mist and Impressions Folder for sparkle and texture on the background layer. I colored in the trees with Stampin' Write Markers -- one in each color. A partial strip of Certainly Celery, edged with the Scallop Border Punch, finishes off the right side of the card, along with some 1/4"
Grosgrain ribbon and some lavender Rhinestone Brads. I wish you could see the sparkle on this card in real life -- it's just amazing! Click on the photos to view them as larger!
I've got one last card using today's Crazy Christmas Colors! This is kind of a cool effect on this one. I stamped the large snowflakes from Snow Swirled with Versamark Ink and the smaller ones with White Craft Ink and then embossed the entire thing with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. The result are snowflakes that are a deep turquoise and some that are white, all sparkly and shimmery from the
embossing powder. I made the bookplate for the sentiment using two Curly Label Punchies and the Horizontal Slot Punch for the ribbon opening. The ribbon is 5/8" Certainly Celery Grosgrain. Snowflakes are stamped on the inside in all three colors!
So there you go -- three beautiful Christmas cards created from three unlikely Christmas colors -- Lovely Lilac, Tempting Turquoise and Certainly Celery. What do you think? I'd love to hear your feedback. And ... if you think of some Crazy Christmas Colors that you would like to see, leave me a comment with that as well. Who knows? I may just see what I can do with it!
