Hello everyone! It's time for another great Saturday Sketch Challenge from the Operators at Stamping 411 -- our site designed especially for the beginning and inexperienced stamper (of course, everyone is welcome and we hope there is something for everyone but we make special efforts to explain things and give dimensions, which is helpful for those beginning this great creative adventure!). Wow, I'm getting a little wordy this evening! On to the good stuff! Look at this fabulous sketch that Selene created for us this week! Isn't it fun?
It seemed perfect for something fun, bright and whimsical!
And here's what I came up with!
What do you think -- fun, bright and whimsical? I had such fun with this sketch and card. The non-traditional Christmas colors of Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery and Orchid Opulence seemed to fit the bill! I used some Certainly Celery Polka Dot Prints in the background. I cut two of the Snowflake #2 Die and then heavily spritzed it with Shimmer Mist (2 oz of rubbing alcohol and about 12 drops of Champaign Mist Shimmer Paint in a small mister bottle. Shake often during use). Click on the photo to view it as larger so you can really see the shimmer and shine on this snowflake. Once that dried, I "wove" the two snowflakes together, passing the "arms" from the back snowflake up and through the "arms" on the front one. Isn't it pretty! A Square Rhinestone Brad was all the extra bling that was needed in the center. Other embellishments include 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon in Bermuda Bay and the Modern Label Punch and Die (used with the Movers & Shapers Die.
Here's the measurements:
- Layer One -- Card Base -- Bermuda Bay Cardstock cut at 8.5 x 5.5" -- fold in half and crease with your Bone Folder
- Layer Two -- Certainly Celery cut at 4 x 5.25"
- Layer Three -- Designer Series Paper cut at 3.75 x 5"
- Layer Four -- Orchid Opulence cut at 3.75 x 1.5" and applied to the bottom of the DSP layer
- Layer Five -- the snowflake as described above. I attached it with SNAIL adhesive and the brad in the middle
- Layers Six and Seven -- the sentiment (from Teeny tiny Wishes) cut out with the Modern Label Punch and Die and attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Well, I think that will do it for now. I love this sketch so much that I'm sure I will do some more cards in the next few days using it. It's such fun!
Be sure and check out the Stamping 411 site to see what the other Operators have been up to this week! And once you're finished your creation using this sketch, make sure to stop back and leave us your name and the URL address of your post on the Mister Linky Widget. We can't wait to see what you come up with this week!
What a snowflake indeed! This is so bright and fun Gretchen! I love the sparkle and the polka dots! Really, really fabulous!
Funny how we both used the same die and our cards are so totally different schemes this week! Great minds you know.....
