Good morning, everyone! Saturday morning means only one thing around here -- a new Weekend Sketch Challenge from the Operators at Stamping 411! And look at what we have for you today! Now, don't let the hearts fool you -- you can use any shaped or design for this card -- snowflakes, flowers, birds, balloons -- the possibilities are endless! We do hope you'll play along with our challenge this weekend and so look forward to seeing what you've created! Once you've completed your card or project using this sketch, make sure to revisit the Stamping 411 site and leave your name and the URL of your project posting on the Mister Linky Widget. That's all there is to it!
For my project example today, I decided to stick with a Christmas theme. My colors are Brushed Gold, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plumb and Real Red. I used the Delightful Decorations stamp set and Christmas Punch for the sentiment. Both are stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool and then punched out with the Ornament Punch and the Wide Oval Punch. Did you ever want a scallop border around the Wide Oval? Well I did! I created this by using three (3) Scallop Oval Punchies, positioning one on the top and another on the bottom and then cutting the third one in half and positioning each half right and left. It worked pretty well, I think! I used the Big Shot and the Petals-a-Plenty Impressions Folder on the Perfect Plumb layer at the bottom of the card and two strips of 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain ribbon across the seam. One of the ornaments is popped-up with Stampin' Dimensionals and a bit of Gold Metallic Elastic Cord is tied onto each one!
Here are the layer details and dimensions:
- Layer One -- Card Base -- Brushed Gold Cardstock cut at 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded in half and creased tight with the Bone Folder
- Layer Two -- Elegant Eggplant cut at 4 x 5.25"
Layer Three -- Perfect Plumb cut at 4 x 1.5". Emboss with the Impressions Folder. Adhere with SNAIL adhesive and attach your ribbon.
- Layer Four -- Wide Oval Detail as described above.
- Layer Five -- the punched out ornament shapes as described above
I did do a little stamping on the inside (of course) but forgot to take a picture! I stamped an ornament and some snowflakes and then embossed them in gold as well.
Well, I think that's it for now! Can you believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! Goodness! I know you're busy so I do want to thank you for stopping by and spending a few minutes at Inspiration in Action. Be sure and check out the Stamping 411 site when you get a chance to see what the other Operators have been up to! And don't forget to come back and link your project. We really do look forward to seeing your work!
Until later!
I like your take on the design Gretchen. Very pretty and elegant.
