Good Thursday morning, everyone! Time for another Weekend Sketch Challenge today. I do hope you'll be able to play along this week -- it's easy ... and fun! All you do is create a project using this sketch as your inspiration and then come back and leave your name and the URL where we can see your creation with the Mister Linky Widget below! I can't wait to see what you come up with! Today's sketch offers lots of opportunity for color, pattern and texture with it's bold, color-blocking design and diagonally-placed center square! Note the slit that is created for the ribbon to pass through. I used the Horizontal Slot Punch to make this although you could get creative and do this in other ways. Well, enough chit-chat, here's my first example ...
Talk about bold and texture ... I just love Black, White and Red together. It's so dramatic and the contrast is so wonderful. For this card, I embossed the white sections with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder and the Black
Sections with the Finial Press Impressions Folder for delicious texture all across this card. The sentiment is from Well Scripted and the hearts are stamped from I {Heart} Hearts. I stamped them in craft ink and then embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder for just a bit of bling. The large heart
was created using the Scalloped Heart Embosslet and the center white heart was punched with the Full Heart Punch. The ribbon is 5/8" Black Satin and the corner brads are from the Bold Brights collection. The hearts are attached using Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped a couple of the hearts on the inside of the card as well (big surprise there, right?).
For my second example card, I used the beautiful Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper and the Greenhouse Garden Stamp Set. This sketch is a great way to show off several DSP patterns on one card! The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Orchid Opulence and Whisper White. I stamped the middle of the flowers (this is a two-step stamp set) with Black Stazon ink. The ribbon is 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain and again, the flowers are attached using Stampin' Dimensionals. The sentiment is from Whimsical Words (a FREE Sale-a-bration set). A few flowers adorn the inside of the card.
One more card and then it's time for you to get busy creating with this week's sketch! I flipped the sketch on it's side for this last creation. I
used patterns from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack (do you know there are 48 DSP patterns in this pack?). The felt flowers are Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (so much fun) and the ribbon is 5/8" Satin. I attached the flowers using Crystal Effects. The sentiment is again from Whimsical Words.
Well, that will do it for today! Don't forget to come back and leave your project information with Mister Linky below! Can't wait to see what you will create this week!
Oh, and did I mention that I'm offering some fabulous blog candy this week ... some product samples from the Occasions Mini Catalog will be sent to one lucky participant!
