Hello everyone! I've got a new Weekend Sketch Challenge for you today -- IA 119! Doesn't this look fun! Think of all the possibilities for using up narrow scraps of Designer Series Papers or ribbons! I can't wait to see what you create with this week's sketch! If posting on a public forum, please place IA119 in the keyword or tag field so we can find your creations.
And don't forget to stop back here and leave your name and the location of your project with the Mister Linky widget below.
Okay ... are you ready to see what I created this week?
Here's my first card, using (surprise) the same colors that I put in the sketch. This card is all about texture -- each of the color-block strips is embossed with a different Impressions Folder -- Elegant Bouquet, Perfect Polka Dots and Finial Press. In addition, I used textured cardstock. The colors are Certainly Celery, Perfect Plumb, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White. I used the Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punches to make the rectangle -- see the TUTORIAL on how to do this. The stamp set is Three Little Words and the ribbon is 1/4" Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain. I also used the Word Window Punch for frame-out the sentiment. Such fun! And don't forget to stamp a little on the inside of the card as well to make it even more special.

Okay, ready for card Number Two! With the colors of Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plumb, Old Olive and Whisper White, I've gone back to one of my favorite Designer Series Papers -- Cottage Wall. And what a wonderful way to show off some of the beautiful patterns in this paper. I used the Eyelet Border Punch, the 5-Petal Flower Punch and the Boho Flower Punch. I inked the edges of the punched flowers and applied Rhinestone Brads in the center before adhering them with Stampin' Dimensionals. The ribbon is 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain in Rich Razzleberry. And the stamp set is For All You Do (another favorite).
For this last card, I turned the sketch on it's side and brought out Tote-ally Tess to spiff it up a bit. Isn't she a fashion Diva in her pink and brown outfit, created with the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper? She's holding a great-big heart to wish you Happy Valentine's Day. I used the Scallop Trim Border and corner punches, the Full Heart Punch and the Scallop Heart Embosslet with the big shot. The ribbon is 5/8" Chocolate Chip Satin. I colored Tess in with Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers and paper pieced her clothing from the DSP. So there are actually 5 different DSP patterns in this card -- can you believe it?
Okay -- now it's your turn and I can't wait to see what you create with this week's Sketch!

Gretchen--what a great idea to use a different texture plate for each strip!
I do hope that with much more pratice my punching with our new punches (esp. the corner & then borders) will come out like yours. Even with your good instructions I have a long way to go.
Any further help would be most appreciated.
Hugs, Nola
