Hello everyone! Time for another great Saturday Sketch Challenge from the Operators at Stamping 411! We've got a great one for you today -- lots of layers means lots of opportunity for color, texture and contrast!
I decided to go with two beautiful, fresh, spring-like colors -- Certainly Celery and Bermuda Bay. I used the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder to the great texture on the background layer. Then I used small pieces of Designer Series Paper from the Thoroughly Modern and Certainly Celery Patterns sets. I punched one edge of the sentiment mat with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and added some 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon. The stamp set is Well Scripted, from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The great thing about a card like this is that you could add any sentiment and it would fit -- thank you, thinking of you, get well soon, etc.
Okay, here are the measurements:
- Layer One -- Bermuda Bay Cardstock cut to 8.5 x 5.5", scored and folded in half to form the card base.
- Layer Two -- Certainly Celery cut at 4 x 5.25 and embossed with the Big Shot
- Layer Three -- 3 x 2" piece of Certainly Celery Print
- Layer Four -- 3 x 2" piece of Thoroughly Modern Print
- Layer Five -- 1.75 x 2.25" piece of Bermuda Bay. Pass the ribbon over the top and attach to the back.
- Layer Six -- 1.5 x 2" piece of Certainly Celery Print
- Layer Seven -- 1.75 x 2.5" piece of Bermuda Bay -- trim one edge with the Scallop Trim Border Punch
- Layer Eight -- 1.5 x 2.25" piece of Whisper White -- stamp image with Black Stazon Ink.
Well, that's it -- it's not difficult but there are a lot of layers to work with. If you're not used to working with that many layers, I suggest that you stick to 2 or 3 colors and perhaps use one Designer Series Paper pack so that the prints you choose will coordinate easily together. Have fun with this week's sketch challenge! Don't forget to visit Stamping 411 to see what the other Operators have been up to and to leave your link for your project, once you complete it!
Have a great weekend, everyone ... and Happy Stamping!
