Happy Weekend, everyone! It's supposed to be beautiful (but hot) weather here in Central Illinois which is good news indeed because the last two weeks have been nothing but rain, rain and more rain! Regardless of your weather this weekend, I hope you find some time to stamp! And if you're looking for inspiration, you can find it at Stamping 411 where we have a new Saturday Sketch Challenge!
Selene, our Sketch Queen, cam up with another winner this week! I love the large, diagonally placed Center image and the horizontal layers leave lots of opportunity for ribbons, borders and texture!
So, do you want to see my take on this week's sketch? Here you go ...
Here is my card, using one of the soon-to-be-retired stamp sets, True Friend and some of the gorgeous Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper. I added the Birthday sentiment from Watercolor Trio.
To create the focal image, I applied Stampin' Write Markers directly on the rubber, using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive colors. Other embellishments and accessories include 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Old Olive, the Scallop Trim Border Punch, the Large Oval and Scallop Oval punches and Stampin' Dimensionals.
Here are the measurements:
- Layer One -- Basic Black cardstock cut at 5.5 x 8.5", scored and folded to form the card base
- Layer Two -- Pink Flamingo DSP cut at 4 x 5.25"
- Layer Three -- Old Olive cut at 4 x 3.25" -- use the Scallop Trim Border Punch to trim both top and bottom
- Layer Four -- Pumpkin Pie cut at 4 x 2.5". I used the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots Impression Folder to add a little texture to this layer. Once you adhere layers three and four to the DSP, apply the ribbon, attaching to the back with SNAIL adhesive.
- Layer Five -- Basic Black 2.5" square
- Layer Six -- Whisper White 2.25" Square. Stamp your image as described above. Apply layers five and six to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Layer Seven -- create your greeting tag with the Large Oval and Scallop Oval Punches. I stamped on Pumpkin Pie Cardstock and then inked the edges after punching out the shape with Real Red Ink. Apply to Card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Tie on a faux-bow to one side of the Diagonal Focal image.
- Layer Eight -- you know me! A little stamping on the inside of the card always makes it special!
Well, that's it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to check out the Stamping 411 Site to see what the other Operators have created with this week's sketch. And once you've completed your project, we would love for you to use the linking tool so that we can see your artwork as well!
Have a great weekend everyone! Don't forget, the Control Freaks have a Blog Tour on Sunday, June 20th. Come back here and hop on the bus for a great ride and some fabulous projects!
