Hello everyone and welcome to a new Saturday Sketch Challenge from the Stamping 411 Operators!
Again this week I'm using some of those amazing floating re-inker flowers from the Fabulous Florets Stamp set! Oh my gosh, these flowers are so much fun to make and quite addictive. Actually, when I sat down to make them this week, I made up a batch of about 30-40 flowers so that I've got a container of them ready to pop on a quick card!
In a nutshell, here's how to do them:
- Stamp your image (line art images with enclosed areas work best) on Shimmer White Cardstock using Black Craft Ink and Black Embossing Powder (be sure and use your Embossing Buddy first). Heat set with the heat tool and let cool.
- Spritz water on each of the flowers -- really soak it with 3-4 pumps each.
- Before the water soaks in (work quickly in small quantities), ink up a wet aqua painter with the ink color of your choice and then just "touch" it to the puddles of water sitting inside the embossed areas of the image. The ink will magically spread and float to fill in the space.
- When they are dry (I usually let mine set overnight), the colors and patterns are amazing! Each one will be different, just like real flowers!
For my flowers on this card, I used the following inks: Daffodil Delight, Elegant Eggplant, Peach Parfait and Poppy Parade.
The background stem is stamped in Old Olive -- stamp once and then stamp off for a lighter image. The flowers are slightly curved, using a Bone Folder, and then attached to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Other supplies for this card include: 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Old Olive, 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Old Olive, an Antique Brad, the Scallop Trim Border Punch and the sentiment is from the Occasional Quotes Stamp Set (level 3 hostess). The cardstock colors are: Peach Parfait, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White.
Here's the Measurements:
- Layer One -- Peach Parfait Cardstock cut at 5.5 x 8.5", scored and folded to form the card base
- Layer Two -- Elegant Eggplant cut at 3.75 x 5.25" -- punch bottom edge with Border Punch
- Layer Three -- Whisper White cut at 3.5 x 4.75" -- stamp your stem images, adhere to layer 2, attach ribbon, bow and cut-out flowers.
Well, that about says it for this card! I hope you have some fun sometime soon creating these fabulous flowers!
Be sure and check out the Stamping 411 blog to see the inspiration that the other Operators have left for you! Thanks so much for stopping by. Please come back again soon!
