Hello everyone and welcome to the Control Freaks March Blog Tour. We're getting you ready for all your spring and summer weddings this month. Our Theme is "Something Borrowed ... Something Blue" It's all about Wedding Projects!
There are only 9 stops so it won't take you long and I guarantee, it will be well worth your ride. If you want to see some great artwork and be inspired by fabulous and beautiful wedding ideas, hop on the bus, put up your feet and enjoy the ride. It promises to be a great tour! If you're already on the tour, you probably arrived here from the blog of my friend and the super-talented, Dawn Olchefske. Dawn always has something surprising and amazing to share!
My first project for you today is this Wedding Card -- I was going for the bridal lace look with this double-flap card. The Whisper White cardstock was cut at 5.25 x 8.5" and then folded with two flaps -- the bottom one being about 1.5". I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on the edges of both flaps and adhered a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock (an appropriate color, don't you think) on the inside for a little contrast. The entire Whisper White piece is also adhered on a Card Back of Blushing Bride, cut at 4.25 x 5.5"
In between each little scallop, I attached a Large Basic Pearl, further adding to the bridal look. The ribbon is 5/8" Organza in Whisper White, finished off with a tied bow. The stamp set is Heard from the Heart and is stamped with Black Stazon Ink. It's really a very simple card but I think the unusual fold, combined with the scallop trim and pearls, makes it a very special card for a very special day!
And speaking of something special, look at this adorable little couple ... Bride and Groom Tiny Treat Boxes! How cute this would be to have them for each of the reception guests! They are easily made (but still time consuming if you are making enough for an entire wedding reception). I started with the Mini Milk Carton Die and the Big Shot, cutting off the top part of the die-cut to make a simple, open box!
The Groom used Basic Black Cardstock. I simply cut a slit about 3/4" from the top and folded the flap out for this adorable looking "collar". I used a Stampin' Write Marker to add tiny button dots. The bow is tied with 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon. The tiny silk rose (from the Occasions Mini Catalog) was died in diluted Pretty in Pink ink.
For the Bride, I used Whisper White and Blushing Bride (just like the matching card). I used the medium sized pearls on the treat box and 5/8" Organza Ribbon and another little died rose to match the groom! Don't they make a cute couple!
